WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ILLEGAL COMPUTER INTRUSION

ROCHESTER, NY—Christina Saxton, 43, of Conesus, New York, pled  guilty before U.S. Magistrate  Judge Marian W. Payson, to a  misdemeanor charge of unlawfully accessing an interstate computer system, Acting U.S. Attorney Kathleen M. Mehltretter of the Western District of New York announced today. The computer intrusion violation carries a maximum penalty of  1 year imprisonment, a fine of  $100,000, or both.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Bradley E. Tyler, who handled the case, stated that the defendant illegally gained access into a computer server within the computer domain of the University of Rochester to obtain information about herself.          

The plea was the culmination of an investigation on the part of Special Agents of the FBI, under the direction of Special Agent-In-Charge Laurie Bennett.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 4, 2009, at 11:00 a.m. EST, in Rochester, N.Y., in front of U.S. Magistrate Judge Marian W. Payson.
