MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE

 

ROCHESTER, N.Y.-- Robley Ralph Tuttle, 48, of 119 Alverstone Way, Henrietta, New York, pled guilty today to transporting child pornography in front of U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa, U.S. Attorney Terrance P. Flynn of the Western District of New York announced today. This violation carries a mandatory minimum of 5 years in prison and a maximum of 20 years imprisonment.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Richard A. Resnick, who handled the case, stated that the defendant worked at Brinkman International Group Inc. ("BIGI") at 167 Ames Street, Rochester, New York. On October 11, 2006, the defendant had downloaded onto BIGI’s network system a large amount of child pornography. The defendant downloaded the child pornography and would allow it to run in the background of his work station computer while he was working. The defendant then transmitted the child pornography by email to his home computer.

Then on November 16, 2006, the Monroe County Sheriff Office executed a search warrant on the defendant's residence located at 119 Alverstone Way, West Henrietta, New York. A large amount of child pornography was discovered on the defendant's computer. Some of the child pornography images depicted prepubescent minors or minors under twelve years old.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood. In February 2006, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales created Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys' Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. The conviction in this case was the culmination of an investigation by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction of Laurie J. Bennett, Special Agent in Charge, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, under the direction of Sheriff Patrick M. O’Flynn. .

Sentencing for Tuttle is scheduled for October 11, 2007, at 2:30 p.m.
