SENTENCED IN BANK ROBBERY CASE
BUFFALO, N.Y.--Adrian
Applewhite, 20, of Buffalo, New York, who was convicted of bank robbery
on Aug. 10, 2007, was sentenced to 71 months in prison followed by 3 years
supervised release by U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny, U.S. Attorney
Terrance P. Flynn of the Western District of New York announced today.
Judge Skretny also ordered the defendant to pay $14,128 restitution, the
amount of money stolen from the credit union.
Assistant U.S. Attorney
Marie P. Grisanti, who handled the case, stated the defendant and two
others robbed the St. John's Buffalo Federal Credit Union, located at
2322 Seneca Street, Buffalo, New York on October 12, 2006. Grisanti said
one of the robbers displayed a gun and ordered the people in the bank
to the ground, and Applewhite jumped over the counter and pulled money
out of the tellers' drawers.
The conviction was the culmination of an investigation on the part of
Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the direction
of Laurie Bennett, Special Agent In Charge, BuffaloOffice and the Buffalo
Police Department.
