For Immediate Release BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO 41 MONTHSBUFFALO, N.Y.--Dwayne K. Griffith, 44, of Medina, New York, who pled guilty to bank robbery on December 28, 2006, was sentenced to 41 months in prison by U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny, U.S. Attorney Terrance P. Flynn of the Western District of New York announced today. Assistant U.S. Attorney Marie P. Grisanti, who handled the case, stated that the defendant had been convicted of bank robbery when he admitted that on August 14, 2006, he robbed the M&T Bank located at 55 Main Street, Batavia, New York. Grisanti said the defendant handed the teller a note which stated he had a gun in his pocket and a bomb which was set for two minutes. The defendant was actually carrying a cigar box containing a candle and a ticking clock. Griffith will be on supervised released for three years following his release from federal prison. The conviction was the culmination of an investigation by the Batavia Police Department under the direction of Darryl Sehm on the part of Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), under the direction of Laurie J. Bennett, Special Agent In Charge, Buffalo FBI office.
